Cardiac arrhythmias can be exacerbated or caused by anesthetic medications, and can contribute to patient instability or even death. This presentation will focus on the thorough evaluation for underlying cardiac disease prior to anesthesia and careful selection of anesthetic medications which are essential actions to reduce the risk for anesthesia-associated arrhythmias. Strategies for the prompt identification and treatment of clinically important arrhythmias during anesthetic procedures will be discussed.
